LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Basketball team fell behind early in the contest and could never catch up as they fell to the Saint Mary Spires 76-51.
Saint Mary scored the first seven points of the contest. Bethel was able to cut the lead down to just five, 9-5, minutes later. Unfortunately for Bethel, the Spires went on a 20-2 run to end the opening quarter to blow the game wide open.
The second quarter saw the Spires push their lead three points further as Bethel was more competitive in the frame.
Jasmine Peete had 11 first half points as BC trailed USM 41-16.
Bethel turned in their largest scoring quarter in the third when they more than doubled their score from the previous two quarters. The Threshers shot 50% from the floor in the quarter.
The Threshers turned in another quality quarter in the fourth as they shot over 44% from the floor on their way to scoring 16 points. The final frame would be the lone quarter that Bethel would outscore Saint Mary. However, it was not by enough as the Spires took the contest 76-51.
