Women's Basketball falls 72-69 in Nebraska despite two career games

YORK, Neb. - Despite their best efforts the Bethel College Women's Basketball team was unable to complete the fourth quarter comeback as the York Panthers held on for the 72-69 victory.

York led from the jump and built up their lead to as much as eight points in the quarter. Bethel cut it down to four, but York was able to extend it back to seven before the end of the quarter. Jasmine Peete kept Bethel in the contest early, scoring seven points in the opening 10 minutes.

The second quarter saw the Panthers extend their lead by three more as they lead for the entirety of the first half. 

Trailing 33-23 after halftime, the Threshers started to make their move. They were able to cut the one time 12 point lead down to just eight entering the final 10 minutes. 

Bethel started cutting into the York lead immediately in the final quarter, getting the lead to just two points with more than half of the frame to go. Despite their best efforts, the Threshers were never able to get the score closer than two points as they lost by three, 72-69.

Bethel shot 50% from three in the second half to spark their comeback efforts, knocking home 7 of their 14 attempts.

Eight Threshers scored in the loss led by Jasmine Peete with a game high 23 points.

Two other Threshers joined Peete in double figures as Carley Robb had a career high 17 points and Josie Stupey added 10.

The battle on the backboards saw an advantage in favor of the Threshers of 45-36.

York outscored Bethel in the paint 24-20.

Bethel pulled in 17 offensive boards that led to 21 second chance points.

Peete recorded her 8th double-double of the season as she pulled in a career high 20 boards to go along with her 23 points.
