Track and Field earns four first place finishes at Southwestern Jinx Invite

WINFIELD, Kan. - Both Bethel College Outdoor Track and Field teams were in action on Saturday as they took part in the Southwestern Jinx Invite. The Threshers turned in four first place finishes with both men's and women's teams coming away with a pair.

In the 100m Trey Palmer finished in 2nd with a time of 11.08. Corbin Unruh finished not too far behind in 7th place with a time of 11.62. Julian Jackson finished 12th with a time of 11.87 and Garrett Slater finished 18th with a time of 12.26.

Dakota Voortman finished 10th in the 100m with a time of 14.45.

Simon Hodge and Unruh finished back to back in the men's 200m as Hodge turned in a time of 23.86 for 9th place and Unruh 24.25 for 10th place.

In the women's 200m Aubry Grame turned in a 6th place finish with a time of 27.94 while Parker Schroeder finished right on her heels in the 7th with a time of 28.12. Mia Roman finished 12th with a time of 28.51. Myiah Logue finished 16th with a time of 29.23 and Voortman finished 18th with a time of 29.60.

Hodge finished the 400m in a time of 24.25 to finish 10th.

Schroeder finished the 400m in 5th place with a time of 1:05.44.

Three Threshers finished in a row in the 800m led by Luke Schmidt's 4th place finish. The sophomore finished with a time of 2:01.53. Tobin Wise finished 5th with a time of 2:03.95. Matthew Fleck finished 6th with a time of 2:08.76. Robbie Crager finished in 16th with a time of 2:22.12.

Bethany Schrag was the lone Thresher to compete in the women's 800m where she turned in a 6th place finish with a time of 2:56.72.

Schmidt turned in his best finish of the day in the 1500m as he ran a time of 4:18.80 to finish 2nd. Wise finished right behind him again in third place with a time of 4:19.81. Fleck finished in 7th with a time of 4:34.75. Crager finished 13th with a time of 4:51.38.

Schrag was also the only Thresher to compete in the women's 1500 as she finished 8th with a time of 5:51.78.

The Thresher women's 4x400 relay team of Grame, Logue, Roman and Schroeder finished 2nd with a time of 4:20.39.

In the long jump, Palmer turned in a first place finish recording a best mark of 6.93m.

Logue won both of the women's horizontal jumps turning in a mark of 5.09m in the long jump and 10.63m in the triple jump, the third best long jump of her young collegiate career.

Julius McVay turned in the Thresher men' second 1st place finish in the shot put with a mark of 12.95m while Hayden Wallace finished 3rd with a mark of 11.99m.

In the discus Mcvay finished 2nd with a mark of 37.41m while Wallace turned in a mark of 30.06m to finish 6th.

Wallace finished 4th in the hammer throw with a mark of 31.93m and McVay finished 6th with a mark of 26.61m.

Daniel Kaufman finished 2nd in the javelin turning in a mark of 50.36m.

The Threshers will be back in action on Friday, March 31 for a two day meet hosted by Friends University.
