Track and Field competes at Southwestern Relays to tune up for conference meet

WINFIELD, Kan. - Both Bethel Track and Field teams participated in the Mike Kirkland Southwestern Relays as final tuneups for next weeks conference meet.

Trey Palmer turned in another NAIA A standard long jump as he improved on his school record he set earlier this season. Palmer won the event with a 7.38m jump, tying the 7th best mark in the country this season.

Myiah Logue finished 3rd in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.38m.

Daniel Kaufman finished 2nd in the men's javelin turning in a mark of 49.80m.

Hayden Wallace finished 9th in the men's hammer with a mark of 41.29m.

Julius McVay finished 8th in the discus with a mark of 38.38m, while Wallace finished 11th with a mark of 34.58m.

McVay finished 8th in the shot put with a mark of 12.30m.

Franklin Sampson finished 2nd in the men's high jump recording a height of 1.80m. Jared Richardson finished 7th with a mark of 1.65m.

Palmer finished 4th in the men's 100m with a finals time of 10.77 after running a 10.85 in his prelim race. Corbin Unruh finished 17th with a time of 11.29. Sebastian Formento finished 18th with a time of 11.42 and Garrett Slater finished 24th with a time of 11.76.

Logue finished 18th in the 200m with a time of 28.14, while Dakota Voortman finished 22nd with a time of 30.51.

Tre Lucas finished 28th in the men's 200m with a time of 23.76, while Garret Slater finished 31st with a time of 24.02.

Aubry Grame won the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.47.

Elly Bertholf finished the women's 800m with a time of 2:39.94 to finish in 6th.

Isaiah Bartel finished 4th in the men's 800m with a time of 2:01.11. Luke Schmidt finished 8th with a time of 2:02.15, while Tobin Wise finished 9th with a time of 2:02.46. Nick Morgan finished 17th with a time of 2:10.54. Matthew Fleck finished 19th with a time of 2:12.38.

Robbie Crager finished the men's 1500m with a time of 4:54.87 to finish 21st.

The women's 4x100m relay team of Grame,Parker Schroeder, Voortman and Logue finished 4th with a time of 51.94.

The men's 4x100m relay team of Jackson, Palmer, Formento and Unruh finished 4th with a time of 41.87.

The men's 4x400m "A" relay team of Bartel, Formento, Simon Hodge and Lucas finshed 5th with a time of 3:24.48. Their "B" team of Morgan, Schmidt, Slater and Wise finished 7th with a time of 3:34.41.

Both Thresher squads will be back in action this weekend for the KCAC Championships hosted at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan. beginning on May 4th.
