SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - The Bethel College Volleyball team completed day two of the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by John Brown University as they took on the host team before facing off with Texas A&M-Texarkana.

The Threshers dropped their first match of the day 3-0 to the Golden Eagles, before turning around and winning a 3-0 match against the Eagles.

The Golden Eagles used a 9-1 run to take a 7-point advantage halfway through the opening set. After JBU took the opening game 25-22, BC started set two by taking an early 7-4 lead. With the Threshers up one late in the set, the Golden Eagles were able to pull away with an 8-1 scoring run to take the game 25-19.

JBU stayed hot to start set three scoring six of the game's first seven points to take command early. The Threshers rallied back to get the game within two points before rattling off seven unanswered points, including back-to-back
Julie Wilhite service aces. Much like set two, Bethel was unable to hold off John Brown late in the set as the Golden Eagles finished the contest on a 12-3 run to take the match 3-0.

The first set of the third game of the invitational was the Threshers' first extended set of the season. After both teams traded blows down the stretch, BC finished the game off by scoring the final three points, with kills from
Kylah Carter, Boone and
Harlie Hunton.

Set two saw the Threshers build off of their momentum as they cruised to a 25-16 victory. Bethel was able to go on a 7-0 run early in the game thanks to more great serving by Wilhite. TAMUT attempted to make it a game late in the set, but BC was able to keep them an arm's length away to go up 2-0.Â

After falling behind 6-0 to start set three, the Threshers slowly started chipping away at the Eagles' lead until they were down 9-8 with Wilhite back behind the line. She served 17 straight times as Bethel went on a 17-0 to blow the game wide open taking a 24-10 lead. During the run Carter and Hunton had 3 kills each, Wilhite had 3 aces and TAMUT committed six errors. Hunton finished the game giving Bethel their first win of the season.

The Threshers will be back in action on Friday, August 25th as they take on Culver Stockton at 2 PM and Dickinson State at 4 PM in the Hastings Classic in Hastings, Neb.
