CHICKISHA, Okla. - The Bethel College Men's Soccer team opened up their 2023 campaign against RV University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
The Drovers got the scoring started in the 11th minute on a set piece from the near corner.
Science and Arts were able to add to their lead in the 36th minute when the Drovers were able to execute a through ball giving their attacker a one-on-one opportunity with Bethel's keeper,
Sean Holness.
With just a minute and a half to go in the first half, the Threshers were able to cut into the Drovers' lead when
Vicente Trejo executed a through ball of his own after securing a loose ball near midfield. Trejo's ball found
Filip Maksimovic, who beat USAO's keeper for his first goal of the season, putting BC on the board.
Science and Arts came out of the half ready to pour it on scoring a goal in the first and third minutes of the second half. They were able to push their lead to 5-0 in the 53rd minute and 6-0 in the 61st minute.
Bethel was outshot by Science and Arts 26(12) to 8(5).
The Threshers will be back in action on Monday, August 28th as they take on Ecclesia at 6:30 PM for their home opener.
