NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College football team dropped their home contest against Kansas Wesleyan 24-14.

The Threshers struck first on a 35-yard touchdown pass from DJ Ciers to Trevon Madison in the first quarter.

Kansas Wesleyan then went on to score 17 unanswered points in the second quarter.

Madison scored his second touchdown of the evening on a 72-yard punt return to bring Bethel back within three points.

The Coyotes pushed their lead back to double-digits with a 3-yard touchdown pass just over 5 minutes into the second half, the final score for either side in the contest.

The story of the game for the Threshers was that standout quarterback, DJ Ciers didn't look right all contest. He eventually was removed in the third quarter as Russell Dugger took over.

Despite that, Ciers still completed 9 of 10 passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Kayden Christiansen carried a bulk of the load for the Threshers as he finished with 11 touches, running for 56 yards.

Kade Miller led the Thresher defense with 13 total tackles, 3 solo and 10 assists. The senior linebacker had a sack and two tackles for a loss.

Bethel will be back in action on Saturday, September 30th as they take on the Tabor Bluejays at 2:00 PM in Hillsboro, Kan.
