WICHITA, Kan. - Both Bethel College track and field teams opened up their 2024 indoor seasons with the Friends University First Chance Qualifier.
Bethany Schrag turned in the best result of the meet setting a new school record by over four seconds in the 3000 meters on her way to winning the race.
Tobin Wise finished 5th in the mile with a time of 4:37.40.
Marcus Fiedler wins his heat, but finished 7th overall with a time of 4:48.17.
Robbie Crager finished 10th with a time of 5:02.37 and
Matthew Fleck finished 14th with a time of 5:16.19.
Simon Hodge finished 11th in the 400 meter with a time of 54.11.
Mia Roman finished 2nd in the 600 meters with a time of 1:43.57.
Taryn Paulino finished 3rd with a time of 1:49.22.
Braden Esau finished 4th in the 600 meters with a time of 1:31.33.
Seth Balzer finishes 6th with a time of 1:36.26
Austen Walker finishes 20th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.01.
Schrag won the 3000 meters with a time of 11:38.33 to set a new school record.Â
Luke Schmidt, Wise, Fiedler finished 5th, 6th and 7th in the 3000 meters with times of 9:30, 9:33.96 and 9:35.40. Crager finished 11th with a time of 10:21.42
The 4x400 meter relay team of
Fabian Talavera,
Isaiah Bartel, Hodge, Esau finishes 2nd with a time of 3:38.11.
Hayden Wallace finished 7th in the shot put with a distance of 11.45 meters while finishing 9th in the weight throw with a best mark of 12.19 meters.
Myiah Logue finished 11th in the long jump with a distance of 4.53 meters.
Both squads will be back in action on Saturday, January 20th as they travel to Norman, Okla. for the SNU Invitational.
