Four indoor school records set for Thresher Track and Field at Wilson Invitational

WICHITA, Kan. - The Bethel College indoor track and field teams broke four school records at the Wichita State Wilson Invitational. 
 
The first broken record of the meet belonged to Bethany Schrag. Schrag set her third school record in as many weeks as she turned in a time of 19:50.58 in the 5000m. One minute faster than the previous record.
 
The second broken record of the meet came from the legs of Luke Schmidt. He finished with a school record 16:26.25 in the 5000m finishing in 17th. Marcus Fiedler also ran under the previous school record with a 24th finish, 16:47.85. Tobin Wise 27th with a time of 17:02.73. Robbie Crager 31st with a time of 17:24.87 and Braden Esau 34th at 17:51.80.
 
The third record shattered on the weekend was in the 800m where Taryn Paulino ran a time of 2:30.28, taking second. 
 
The final broken record of the weekend belonged to Mia Roman. Roman ran a school record 3:13.38 in the 1000m as she finished 9th. Schrag finished 19th with a time of 3:25.71.
 
Myiah Logue finished 6th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.74m and 17th in the long jump with a mark of 4.64m.
 
Caeleb Roper finished 19th in the long jump with a mark of 6.11m
 
Hayden Wallace finished 17th in the shot put with a mark of 12.16m while Daniel Kaufman finished 32nd with a mark of 8.49m. 
 
Wallace also finished 18th in the weight throw with a mark of 12.56m.
 
Fabian Talavera finished 19th in the 200m with a time of 23.42. Simon Hodge finished 49th at 24.45. Roper finished 65th at 25.22.
 
Paulino finished 45th in the 200m with a time of 28.90.
 
Isaiah Bartel finished 4th in the 800m with a time of 2:02.11. Schmidt finished 5th at 2:04.30. Esau finished 9th at 2:07.45. Fiedler finished 16th at 2:10.32. Crager finished 24th at 2:15.87. Seth Balzer finished 30th at 2:24.86.
 
Wise with the 11th place finish in the 1000m with a time of 2:39.90.
 
Matthew Fleck finished 31st in the mile with a time of 5:04.06 and 39th in the mile with a time of 10:20.86.
 
The 4x400m relay team of Talavera, Hodge, Bartel, Schmidt ran a time of 3:35.53 to finish 10th.
 
The 4x400m relay team of Wise, Esau, Fiedler, Balzer ran a time of 3:53.23 to finish 16th.
 
Both Thresher squads will be back in action on Saturday, February 3rd at Washburn University.
