Bethel College men's soccer team played to a dramatic 3-3 draw against Evangel, with both teams delivering late goals in a back-and-forth contest.
First Half
Bethel started the game on the front foot, creating chances early. In the 18th minute, Filip Maksimovic capitalized on a penalty opportunity, converting to give Bethel a 1-0 lead. Goalkeeper Kazimir Kromwijk was pivotal in keeping Bethel ahead, making three first-half saves to deny Evangel. Bethel held their 1-0 lead going into the break.
Second Half
Evangel equalized just after the start of the second half, but Bethel responded swiftly. Maksimovic struck again in the 54th minute with his second goal of the match, converting another penalty to restore Bethel's lead at 2-1.
As the match neared its conclusion, Evangel mounted a late comeback, scoring two quick goals in the 87th minute, turning the game on its head at 3-2. However, less than a minute later, Panagiotis Charalambous scored off an assist from Lucas Pardo, leveling the score at 3-3 in the 88th minute.
Bethel's Defensive Efforts
Bethel moves to 5-6-1 and 4-2-1 in conference play. They travel to Tabor on Wednesday in their next match.
