Bethel College volleyball team delivered an impressive performance, defeating Saint Mary in three straight sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-16).
Set 1: Strong Opening and Defensive Holds (25-22)
Bethel opened the match with intensity, taking the first set 25-22. Laci Ownbey led the charge, contributing 5 kills and hitting .423, while Cameron Offerle added 4 kills. The Threshers' defense, led by Jordan Boone's two blocks, played a crucial role in maintaining the lead despite Saint Mary's attempts to close the gap.
Set 2: Bethel Pulls Ahead in Mid-Set Rally (25-21)
In the second set, Bethel capitalized on a mid-set rally to gain control, ultimately winning 25-21. Offerle recorded 5 kills, and Darla Crow added 3 kills, maintaining Bethel's momentum. Setter Mia Roman provided 10 assists and played a key role in distributing the offense, allowing Bethel to break through Saint Mary's defense and build on their lead.
Set 3: Dominant Finish (25-16)
Bethel sealed the match in the third set with a dominant 25-16 performance. Ownbey and Offerle combined for 8 kills, while the team hit an impressive .300. Amaya Malhas contributed with effective serving, adding an ace that extended Bethel's lead. The Threshers' defense held Saint Mary to a low hitting percentage, ensuring a comfortable victory.
