Bethel College secured a crucial conference victory against McPherson College, with a 3-2 win at home. The star of the day was Filip Maksimovic, who notched a hat-trick, his second of the season, to lead the Threshers to victory.
First Half: Early Lead
Bethel wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. In the 11th minute, Maksimovic found the back of the net, assisted by Andrija Mitkovic, to give Bethel a 1-0 lead. McPherson fought back, but Bethel's defense, anchored by Kazimir Kromwijk's , held strong. Maksimovic doubled Bethel's lead early in the second half with an unassisted goal in the 48th minute.
Second Half: Holding On
McPherson clawed back with a goal from Anthony Pereira in the 65th minute, assisted by Nathan Van Wyck. However, Maksimovic struck again in the 83rd minute to complete his hat-trick, giving Bethel a 3-1 cushion. Despite a late penalty goal by McPherson in the 85th minute, Bethel held on for the 3-2 win.
With this win, Bethel improves to 5-6-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the KCAC. Their next match is Saturday at home agaisnt Evangel
