In their first conference game of the season, the Bethel College Women's Basketball team fought hard but fell to the University of Saint Mary, 77-63. Despite a strong second-half effort, Bethel couldn't overcome Saint Mary's early advantage.
First Quarter: Saint Mary Builds Momentum
The game began with Saint Mary taking control early, capitalizing on turnovers and strong rebounding to build a 19-13 lead. Bethel's Kendall Locke and Taylor Hight added key points, but Saint Mary's defense limited opportunities in the paint.
Second Quarter: Bethel Struggles Offensively
Bethel found it challenging to generate consistent scoring in the second quarter, managing just 10 points. Natalie Richards provided a spark with seven points in the period, but Saint Mary extended their lead to 41-23 at halftime.
Third Quarter: Bethel's Comeback Effort
The Threshers came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring Saint Mary 23-17. Richards led the charge with multiple buckets, supported by Carley Robb's three-pointer and free throws. Bethel cut into the deficit but still trailed 58-46 heading into the final frame.
Fourth Quarter: Saint Mary Holds On
Despite Bethel's continued fight in the fourth quarter, Saint Mary maintained their composure, adding 19 points to seal the win. Richards and Hight contributed late points, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Bethel will return to action at home on Wednesday, November 20th, against Southwestern College as they look to bounce back in conference play.
