North Newton, Kan. - November 20th
The Bethel College Men's Basketball team secured a thrilling 76-73 victory over Southwestern College in their first conference win of the season. Behind an outstanding performance from Nick Bonner.
First Half: Bethel Builds Early Momentum
The game started with Bethel pushing the tempo, with Bonner and Harper Jonas leading the scoring. Bethel capitalized on strong defensive play to take a narrow 38-34 lead into halftime. Efficient shooting from beyond the arc helped the Threshers maintain their edge against a tough Southwestern defense. Bethel, however, struggled with turnovers, turning the ball over 8 times in the first half.
Second Half: Bonner Takes Over
In the second half, Southwestern made a push, briefly taking the lead midway through the period. However, Bonner stepped up for Bethel, scoring crucial baskets down the stretch, including a pivotal three-pointer that shifted momentum back to the Threshers. Bethel's defense held firm in the final minutes, with Cade Kittrell contributing key stops and rebounds to secure the win.
Bethel will aim to build on this victory in their next game on Saturday, November 23rd, as they travel to face Bethany College in another conference matchup.
