In a tightly contested game, Bethel College women's basketball fought hard but ultimately fell to Northern New Mexico by a score of 80-78 on a last second shot.
First Half
Northern New Mexico set the pace early, jumping to a 23-16 lead by the end of the first quarter. Bethel responded well in the second quarter with improved shooting and defensive adjustments. Madyson McKinzie played a pivotal role in keeping Bethel close, contributing nine rebounds and leading in scoring with 18 points overall. The Threshers made a strong push to narrow the deficit, ending the half only down by four points at 43-39.
Second Half
The second half saw Bethel continue to battle, with key contributions from Kendall Locke and Caryn Yoder. Locke added 15 points, including two three-pointers, while Yoder added 13 points and three steals to keep Bethel competitive. The fourth quarter was especially intense as both teams traded baskets. In the final minutes, Bethel closed the gap but was unable to take the lead, as Northern New Mexico held on to secure the win on a last second buzzer beater.
