Bethel College women's basketball team battled fiercely but ultimately came up short in a 66-63 loss to William Woods University at Thresher Gym. Despite multiple lead changes and a determined effort, Bethel couldn't overcome the big second quarter by the Owls.
First Half
The Threshers took an early advantage, ending the first quarter with a 21-10 lead. Bethel's defense was solid, holding William Woods to just 23.1% shooting. However, the Owls rallied in the second quarter, outscoring Bethel 27-8 and capturing momentum. Kendall Locke and Madyson McKinzie led Bethel's scoring, keeping the Threshers competitive despite a challenging second quarter, leaving Bethel trailing 37-29 at halftime.
Second Half
Bethel regained their footing in the third quarter, fueled by Natalie Richards and McKinzie, who contributed key baskets to bring the Threshers back within striking distance. Bethel outscored the Owls 15-10 in the third, reducing the deficit to just three points entering the fourth quarter. The game remained intense in the final quarter, with Bethel and William Woods trading baskets. A final push by Bethel in the closing moments fell short as William Woods held on for a narrow 66-63 victory.
Kendall Locke led the Threshers with 15 points 11 rebounds and 6 assists.
They will look to bounce back against Hastings at home on Thursday.
