Women's Basketball Drops Game to Hastings College

North Newton, Kan. - November 7th

The Bethel College women's basketball team put up a strong fight but fell short against Hastings College, losing 72-55. 

First Quarter: Bethel Down Early

Bethel began the game with solid play, keeping pace with Hastings. Carley Robb and Natalie Richards contributed key baskets early, helping the Threshers stay within striking distance. Despite Bethel's energetic defense, Hastings edged out a lead by the end of the first, closing the quarter ahead 19-13.

Second Quarter: Hastings Pulls Ahead

The second quarter saw Hastings extend their lead, outscoring Bethel 20-9. Bethel struggled with shooting consistency, while Hastings capitalized on their opportunities and maintained defensive pressure. The Threshers entered halftime trailing 39-22, hoping to regroup for the second half.

Third Quarter: Bethel Mounts a Comeback

In the third quarter, Bethel surged with a renewed offensive push. Madyson McKinzie led the charge, scoring consistently and helping Bethel cut into the deficit. The Threshers outscored Hastings 22-15 in this quarter, bringing the score closer at 54-44 heading into the final period.

Fourth Quarter: Hastings Seals the Win

Bethel continued to fight in the fourth quarter but couldn't fully close the gap. Hastings maintained control with effective shooting and rebounding, ultimately securing the 72-55 victory despite Bethel's efforts. Kendall Locke and Carley Robb contributed crucial buckets, but the Threshers were unable to overcome Hastings' lead. Hastings finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. Bethel did force 30 Hastings turnovers.

The Threshers will next face Park University (MO) on Saturday, November 9th.
