Men’s Basketball Battles Hard but Falls Short Against Oklahoma City University

North Newton, Kan. - November 6th

Bethel College Men's Basketball put up a fierce fight at Thresher Gym, but ultimately came up short in an 84-77 loss to Oklahoma City University. Despite resilient play and several comeback efforts, Bethel couldn't close the gap.

First Half

The Threshers started the game with intensity, keeping pace with Oklahoma City throughout the first half. Eli Wiseman set the tone early with a three-pointer, and Carmelo Yakubu added several key baskets, including a pair of free throws that kept Bethel within striking distance. Oklahoma City responded with steady scoring, and by the end of the half, the visitors held a narrow 35-32 lead. Bethel struggled to shoot it from three in the first half shooting 26%.

Second Half

In the second half, Oklahoma City elevated their game, shooting 50% from the field.  Despite this, Bethel kept up the pressure, with Wiseman again leading the charge, scoring consistently and adding two more three-pointers. Yakubu contributed a series of rebounds and put-backs, ending the game with  20 points and six rebounds. Harper Jonas and Cade Kitrell made impactful shots, helping Bethel stay within reach in the final minutes. Bethel made a run towards the final few minutes, but could not close the gap.

Bethel will look to bounce back in their next game on November 9th against the #11 ranked Concordia in Nebraska.
