Bethel College Men's Basketball team fought hard but ultimately fell 89-79 to #11 Concordia University (Neb.). Bethel was also missing key starter Harper Jonas in the loss.
First Half: Bethel Keeps it Close
Bethel started the game with intensity, staying neck-and-neck with Concordia. Nick Bonner hit two three-pointers, helping Bethel keep pace, but Concordia's accurate shooting, including 66.7% from beyond the arc, allowed them to edge ahead by halftime with a 43-35 lead. Bethel shot 47.6% from the field, keeping the deficit manageable going into the break.
Second Half: Concordia Pulls Away
Bethel pushed back in the second half, with a great performances from Carter Reid, who went 4-for-5 from three-point range, and Carmelo Yakubu, who added eight points and six assists. Despite shooting 62.5% from three in the second half, Bethel struggled to contain Concordia's offense, which shot 60.9% from the field and maintained their lead. The Threshers rallied late but ultimately couldn't close the gap, finishing the game with a 10-point deficit. The Threshers finished the game with 20 turnovers.
Bethel will begin conference play on Saturday, November 16th, with an away game against Saint Mary.
