KEARNEY, Neb. - Following an exhibition match against the University of Nebraska Kearney, the Bethel College men's tennis team picked up a 6-1 victory over Doane before sweeping Hastings.
The Threshers started off by taking the doubles point as the pairing of
Rodrigo Sanchez and
Jonah Bergeron finished first at #3 doubles 6-2.
Tomas Quercia and
Petr Kollar then fell at #2 doubles 6-3 before
Milan Bucek and
Michael Cech picked up the 6-3 victory at #1 doubles.
After winning the extended first set 7-5, Bucek won the second set 6-4 at #1 singles. Cech handled business at #2 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Quercia dropped his matchup at #3 singles 6-3, 6-4. Kollar won at #4 6-3, 6-1. Sanchez didn't drop a game in either set as he cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Moses Sawatzky won his matchup at #6 singles 6-1, 6-0.
Kollar and Quercia played #1 doubles against the Broncos where they picked up the 6-2 victory. Bergeron and
James Menard won at #2 6-3 to give BC the doubles point over Hastings. Cech and Sawatzky won by default in the #3 position.
Bucek didn't drop a game at #1 singles as he won with a pair of 6-0 victories. Quercia, playing #2, won 6-2, 6-1. Sanchez also didn't drop a game as he won 6-0, 6-0 at #3. Sawatzky picked up the 6-1, 6-4 victory in the #4 position. Menard and Bergeron picked up wins by default at #5 and #6.
The Threshers will be back in action on Friday, March 1st as they host Ottawa Arizon and Midland with the action set to begin at 10:00 AM.
