Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men's Tennis splits with Texarkana and John Brown

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College men's tennis team hosted a pair of matchups before hitting the road for their spring break trip. The Threshers fell 4-3 to Texas A&M Texarkana before defeating John Brown 5-2.

After having to move the match with Texarkana inside at Prairie Dunes Country Club, the Threshers won the doubles point before dropping four of the six singles matches.

Michael Cech and Petr Kollar won 6-3 at #1 doubles. Milan Bucek and Tomas Quercia won 6-4 in the #2 position before Rodrigo Sanchez and Jonah Bergeron completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory at the #3 position.

Bucek and Sanchez picked up the lone singles wins for BC as Milan won at #1 with a pair of 6-4 matches and Rodrigo won in three sets at #5 after dropping the first, 1-6, 6-3, 10-4.

Cech, playing #2 singles, lost the first set 6-3 before losing the second in a tiebreaker 7-6(7-3). Quercia fell in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 10-6. Kollar lost #4 singles 6-0, 7-5.  Moses Sawatzky dropped a pair of 6-0 matches at #6.

Bethel got back on track on Saturday as they defeated JBU 5-2 after winning the doubles point and two through five singles.

Cech/Kollar fell at #1 doubles 6-3 before Bucek/Quercia and Sanchez/Bergeron won at #2 and #3. 

Bucek fell at #1 singles 6-3, 6-1. Cech won his match 6-3, 7-5. Kollar won at #3 losing just two games 6-0, 6-2. At #4, Sanchez won his second set in a tiebreaker to take the match 6-4, 7-6(7-1). Bergeron won at #5 6-3, 6-0. Sawatzky fell at #6 7-5, 6-4.

The Threshers are back in action on Thursday, March 14th as they take on Our Lady of the Lakes in San Antonio, Texas at 1:00 PM.
