North Newton, Kan. – The Bethel College Threshers faced a tough challenge in their home opener on August 28, 2024, as they were defeated 3-0 by #17 Hastings College at Thresher Stadium. Despite a strong defensive effort in the first half, the Threshers were unable to contain the Bronco Offense in the Second half.

The first half saw Bethel holding their ground, keeping the scoreline at 0-0 through the initial 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Jacie Scott was solid, making six critical saves to keep the Threshers in the game.

However, the second half proved challenging as Hastings broke the tie in the 57th minute with a penalty goal from Dulce Lopez. The Broncos would go on to score two more goals in the final 33 minutes of the contest. 

Leonie Kuhrt and Briseis Gomez led the Threshers with five shots on goal, but they couldn't find the back of the net
