Men's Tennis Team Competes at KCAC Individual Championships in Lindsborg

Lindsborg, Kan. - The Bethel Men's Tennis team put on a strong performance at the KCAC Individual Championships in Lindsborg. Despite several narrow defeats, the team came away with numerous top finishes, including a championship victory.

In #2 Singles, Rodrigo Sanchez battled his way to a 4th-place finish. In a tightly contested third-place match against Cristobal Fuentes from Friends University, Sanchez fought hard but ultimately fell 8-6.

At #4 Singles, Billy Haoda had a stellar run to the finals but was edged out in the championship match by McPherson. The match was a true nail-biter, with Haoda losing in a super tie-break. After a tight first set, 7-6, Haoda dropped the second 6-4, before falling in the tiebreak 11-9.

Jonah Bergeron also reached the championship round at #5 Singles, where he put up a strong fight against McPherson but came up short in a 6-2, 6-4 loss, securing a 2nd-place finish.

The highlight of the singles competition came from #6 Singles player Moses Sawatzky, who dominated his division and captured the championship title. Sawatzky cruised to a convincing 6-1, 6-3 victory in the final.

In doubles action, the #1 Doubles team of Petr Kollar and Jorge Batista looked formidable throughout the early rounds, comfortably advancing to the championship match. However, they were outdueled by McPherson in a close 8-5 loss, finishing in 2nd place.

The #2 Doubles pair of Billy Haoda and James Menard also made an impressive run to the final but fell to McPherson as well, with an 8-4 defeat that secured their 2nd-place finish.

Bethel's success continued in #3 Doubles, where Jonah Bergeron and Rodrigo Sanchez captured the division title after winning two thrilling matches. The duo won their semifinal match 9-8, prevailing 7-1 in the tiebreak, and followed it up with a gritty 9-7 victory in the championship match to bring home the title.

Overall, it was a strong showing for Bethel Men's Tennis, with several players finishing near the top of their divisions.
