North Newton, Kan. — The Bethel Threshers secured their first win of the conference season with a convincing 5-1 victory over Bethany.
Bethel opened the scoring early with Filip Maksimovic finding the back of the net just 2:45 into the match, assisted by Gabriel Okita. The Threshers continued to apply pressure, and Andrija Mitkovic doubled the lead with a goal in the 11th minute. Although Bethany managed to pull one back at the 32:32 mark thanks to a goal by Steven McQueen, Bethel quickly responded with a goal from Gabriel Okita in the 34th minute to regain control.
The Threshers dominated the second half as Maksimovic completed his hat trick with two more goals, assisted twice by Lucas Pardo, in the 66th and 68th minutes. Bethel's defense held firm throughout the match, limiting Bethany to only six shots, while goalkeeper Kazimir Kromwijk recorded one save.
With a commanding 26 shots (15 on target), Bethel controlled the pace of the game.
Bethel will look to build on this strong performance as they head into their next match Saturday afternoon at home against Friends.
