The Bethel Track & Field team traveled to Northwest Missouri State on Saturday to compete in the Coach Alsup Invitational, delivering several standout performances across the field, sprints, and distance events.
Field Events
Myiah Logue continued her impressive season with a third-place finish in the triple jump, achieving a season-best mark of 10.83m. On the throws side, Hayden Wallace set a new lifetime best in the shot put with a throw of 12.68m, highlighting a day of personal achievements.
Sprints
Sophomore Fabian Talavera excelled in the 60m dash with a lifetime best of 7.27 seconds, followed by a season-best 22.98 in the 200m dash. Corbin Unruh also recorded a lifetime best in the 60m dash with a time of 7.21 seconds and a season-best 23.41 in the 200m. Josiah Buller added strong performances in the 400m (53.68) and 200m (23.90). The men's 4x400m relay capped off the sprints with a dominant performance, winning their heat with a season-best time of 3:32.79.
Distance
The distance squad was led by Tobin Wise, who delivered season-best performances in both the mile (4:38.43) and the 800m (2:00.47). Luke Schmidt impressed with a strong double in the 1000m (2:41.30) and the 600m (1:17.21). Seth Balzer achieved a personal best in the 800m with a time of 2:07.61, while Brandon Esau posted a season-best 2:00.06 in the same event. Marcus Fielder made a strong season debut in the 5k with a time of 16:47.
On the women's side, freshman Cleo Naranjo narrowly missed setting a school record in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:32.88, as a technical error on the track denied her record attempt. Freshman Sydney Hart clocked a solid 2:52.71 in the 800m, while sophomore Emma Graber ran 2:40.58. Bethany Schrag delivered a standout performance in the 5k, finishing with a time of 19:47.
The highlight of the meet came from Mia Roman, who shattered the school record in the mile with a time of 5:26.54, breaking the mark previously set by Susan Morris in 2013. Notably, this was Mia's first-ever mile race, making the accomplishment even more remarkable.
The Threshers continue to show improvement and determination as the season progresses, setting new personal and school records.
