WICHITA, Kan.—The Bethel College women's basketball team faced a tough challenge on the road Wednesday evening, falling to Friends University 75-64 at the Garvey Center. Despite strong performances from Madyson McKinzie and Kendall Locke, the Threshers couldn't overcome the Falcons' consistent play and rebounding advantage.
McKinzie led Bethel with 19 points and four rebounds, while Locke contributed a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Natalie Richards also added 13 points, but the Threshers struggled to find consistency against a physical Friends team.
How It Happened
Bethel got off to a slow start, scoring just 13 points in the first quarter while Friends built a 23-13 lead. The Threshers responded with a strong second quarter, outscoring the Falcons 20-13 to head into halftime down just three points, 36-33.
In the second half, Friends' Lauryn McIver and Taylor Jackson took over, combining for 37 points and dominating the glass. The Falcons outrebounded the Threshers 51-41 and limited Bethel's three-point shooting to just 10.7% for the game.
Despite a late push by McKinzie and Locke in the fourth quarter, Bethel couldn't close the gap as Friends sealed the game with free throws in the final minutes.
