SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Bethel College women's soccer team put together a strong performance on the road Saturday but came up short in a 2–0 loss to Evangel University in KCAC play.
Evangel struck early in the eighth minute and added a second goal midway through the second half, but Bethel continued to create opportunities throughout the match. The Threshers tallied 12 shots, including nine on goal, forcing the Evangel keeper to make nine saves.
Offensively, Aniaya Lugo, Malayasia Larque, and Taylor Andrew led the attack, combining for seven of Bethel's shots. Jacie Scott anchored the defense in goal, recording six saves against 18 Evangel attempts.
With the loss, Bethel moves to 3–10–3 overall and 3–7–1 in KCAC play, remaining three points out of eighth place — the final postseason qualifying position. The Threshers will look to make a late push with their final two matches against teams currently sitting 11th and 8th in the standings.
Bethel returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to York, Nebraska, for another critical conference matchup against York University.
