Crete, Neb. ---- The Bethel College cross country teams turned in an outstanding day of racing at the Blazing Tiger NAIA Classic, highlighted by multiple personal bests and three new school records.
The women's race featured a field of 275 competitors, and senior Bethany Schrag led the way for the Threshers with a record-breaking effort. Schrag shattered her own school record by 45 seconds, finishing in 23:17 over the 6K course to place 47th overall. Junior Emma Graber followed with a lifetime best of 25:39, while teammates Taryn Paulino (27:29), Arianna Cerda (28:08), and Sydney Hart (30:02) rounded out the team's top five. Freshman Adah Hodge did not start.
On the men's side, junior Marcus Fiedler headlined the day with a historic performance, setting a new Bethel 8K school record with a time of 26:03, surpassing the previous mark set in 2020 by Arran Kearney. David Ultreras clocked a season-best 26:39, and Asa Johnson continued his strong freshman campaign with a 26:45 finish. Sophomore Gavin Gishi (28:13) and freshman Braylon Hunnell (28:17) completed the Threshers' top five, helping the men's team establish a new program record for team average at 27:12.
