Yakubu named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week

Kansas - Carmelo Yakubu was named the KCAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against #11 Saint Mary.

Yakubu was elite on both ends of the court, but really shined on the defensive side of the ball, grabbing 13 rebounds (12 on the defensive end) in the win. Yakubu's length also helped force Saint Mary into 21 turnovers, including Yakubu picking off two steals. He also guarded Saint Mary's Jordan Brown, who he held to 4-15 shooting in the contest. Yakubu also was great around the rim with two blocks. Yakubu helped Bethel knock off the #11 team in the country with an elite two-way performance. He is starting to make an early case for an All-American at this rate.

Bethel will travel to Winfield tomorrow night to take on Southwestern at 7:00 PM
