NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — The Bethel College football team capped off Senior Day with an impressive 35–25 win over Avila University on Saturday afternoon at Thresher Stadium.
The Threshers came out firing, scoring on their first two possessions. Houston Herrin connected with Trevon Madison for a 24-yard touchdown, then found Noah Miller for a one-yard score to give Bethel a 14–0 lead in the first quarter.
After Avila cut the deficit to 14–3, Bethel answered immediately as Herrin and Madison connected again — this time for a 39-yard touchdown — to make it 21–3 heading into halftime. Herrin continued to dominate through the air in the second half, finding Xzavion Martin for a 20-yard touchdown and later hitting Jaxson Daniels on a 69-yard strike to put the game out of reach.
Herrin finished the day 22-for-28 for 340 yards and five touchdowns, distributing the ball to nine different receivers. Madison led the way with four catches for 64 yards and two scores, while Larry Cherry added six receptions for 84 yards.
Defensively, Frank Driscoll anchored the Threshers with eight tackles, one sack, and three quarterback hurries. Isaac Forbes sealed the game late with an interception in the red zone — his first of the season.
The win improves Bethel to 3–6 overall.
Before kickoff, Bethel honored 10 seniors who have made lasting contributions to the Thresher program:
