Men's Basketball Controls Sterling 78–62 Behind Dominant Offensive Night

North Newton, Kan. — Bethel men's basketball put together one of its most complete performances of the season Wednesday night in Thresher Gym.

The Threshers came out firing, racking up 42 first-half points and establishing control before halftime. Ball movement was crisp, transition play was sharp, and Bethel's guards set the tone early with confident shot-making. The momentum carried into the second half, where Bethel continued to separate, outscoring Sterling 36–28 to close out the wire-to-wire win.

The Offense Clicks

Bethel shot an impressive 48.4% from the field and knocked down 11 threes, spacing the floor and keeping Sterling on its heels. The Threshers also won the rebounding battle 30–29 and turned 15 Sterling turnovers into 20 points, generating needed separation throughout the night.

Bench production played a major role as well, as the reserves combined for 21 points, giving Bethel sustained bursts of scoring and defensive energy.

Bethel Standouts

The Threshers showcased a deep, balanced attack:

  • Carmelo Yakubu was electric with 19 points, shooting 8-for-10 from the field and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.

  • Dominick Harris added 13 points, hitting three triples and providing steady guard play.

  • Albert Diarra controlled the interior with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and efficient scoring around the rim.

  • Kaeson Fisher-Brown kept the momentum rolling with 10 points and 6 rebounds, attacking the boards with force.

  • Off the bench, Drew Rodriguez gave Bethel a huge lift with 9 points on three made threes, while Brayden Schilling contributed valuable minutes and energy.

Bethel's ability to score at every level and maintain pressure defensively helped build and preserve a comfortable lead throughout the night.

Sterling's Effort

Sterling struggled to match Bethel's perimeter firepower, finishing just 5-of-20 from three. Chris Drake (11 points, 10 rebounds) posted a double-double, and Julian Smith added 14 points, but the Warriors couldn't overcome Bethel's offensive pace or depth.

Final Score

Bethel 78, Sterling 62

With the victory, the Threshers improve their standing in KCAC play and carry momentum into the weekend.
