Softball Splits with Kansas Wesleyan in Salina

Salina, Kan. — Bethel College (8-11, 4-6 KCAC) earned a split on the road Monday afternoon, opening the day with a 3-2 win over Kansas Wesleyan (12-16, 3-7 KCAC) before falling 15-1 in game two.

Bethel jumped out early behind a productive day from Sadie Jensen, who scored the game's first run on a throwing error in the first inning and later came around again on an RBI single by Ashleigh Bodine.

Jensen added what proved to be the game-winner with a solo homer in the third. Emma Killingsworth was sharp in the circle, tossing a complete game while scattering seven hits and allowing just two earned runs.

Kansas Wesleyan's only scoring came in the fourth inning on a two-run homer by D. Rubio, but Killingsworth retired nine of the final eleven batters she faced to seal the win.

The Coyotes overwhelmed Bethel in the finale, erupting for 12 runs in the third inning to break the game wide open. Kansas Wesleyan strung together six hits in the frame, including a three-run homer by J. Soule and a grand slam by H. Summers.

Bethel's lone run came in the fifth when Kenzi Young doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Reese McCord. The Threshers were limited to just one hit in the game and used four pitchers in the loss.
