Softball Drops Two at Home to Central Christian

North Newton, Kan. — Bethel College (8-13, 4-6 KCAC) suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Central Christian College on Wednesday evening at Wedel Field. The Tigers held off a late Bethel rally for a 5-3 win in game one before taking game two in dominant fashion, 9-0 in five innings.

Bethel trailed 2-0 entering the fifth inning but got on the board when Kaylee Linnebur doubled and later scored on an RBI single from Kailey Sandoval. In the sixth, Ella Caudill singled and scored on a double by Madison Gonzales, and Kenzi Young followed with another RBI double to make it a one-run game.

Central Christian tacked on an insurance run in the seventh, and the Threshers went down in order in the bottom half to end the game. Killingsworth pitched five innings before turning it over to Gracie Higgins, who finished the game.

Central Christian scored in three straight innings, including a five-run fourth that broke the game wide open. The Tigers collected 15 hits.

Bethel managed just four hits, including singles from Anna Northcutt, Mija Carlson, Kenzi Young, and Kailey Sandoval. The Threshers left six runners on base and were shut out for just the second time in KCAC play.
