Flag Football Drops Home Matchup to Pratt, Set to Host Cottey Saturday

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — The Bethel College flag football team fell 48-6 to Pratt Community College on Wednesday evening at Thresher Stadium. Despite showing signs of progress offensively, the Threshers were unable to contain a fast-paced Pratt attack that scored in every quarter.

How It Happened

Pratt opened the scoring late in the first quarter and quickly built momentum, scoring three times in the second to take a 21-0 lead. Bethel's lone highlight came with 1:37 remaining in the half, when Kyndall Longman connected with Kathryn Schmidt for a touchdown, capping a 66-yard drive that featured a 52-yard catch by Xavia Mann.

The second half was all Pratt, as they added four more touchdowns while holding Bethel scoreless. The Threshers finished with 125 passing yards, but negative rushing totals and four turnovers kept them from building any rhythm.

Individual Highlights

  • Longman threw for 124 yards and a touchdown on 11 completions.

  • Mann led all receivers with 80 yards on four catches, including the team's longest play of the game.

  • Schmidt added six catches for 34 yards and a touchdown.

  • Nevaeh Gonzales had two interceptions on defense, and also passed for a yard and punted seven times.

  • Amber Clawson led the defense with six tackles, while Kathryn Schmidt, Kyndall Longman, and Xavia Mann each added four.
