Volleyball • College of Saint Mary Tournament (Omaha, Neb.)

Threshers Battle Ranked Foes in Omaha

Bethel takes on No. 7 Northwestern, No. 20 Midland, No. 4 Concordia, and RV Morningside across two days.

Aug 29 • vs No. 7 Northwestern

Result: Loss 0–3 (18–25, 21–25, 17–25)

Bethel opened against seventh-ranked Northwestern and dropped a straight-set decision. Outside hitter Cameron Offerle led the Threshers with a team-best kill total while libero Abby Koontz steadied the back row.

Aug 29 • vs No. 20 Midland

Result: Win 3–2 (25–19, 25–23, 23–25, 20–25, 15–12)

The Threshers answered with a five-set upset of 20th-ranked Midland, claiming the opening two sets and outlasting the Warriors in a tense race to 15. Offerle paced the offense and the serve game delivered timely pressure, while Koontz and the Bethel block turned back late Midland charges. The deciding set featured clutch swings and clean sideouts to seal the marquee win.

Aug 30 • vs No. 4 Concordia (NE)

Result: Loss 1–3 (25–23, 20–25, 15–25, 19–25)

Bethel struck first against fourth-ranked Concordia, edging the opening set 25–23 behind efficient sideout play and a hot start from the hitters. The Bulldogs regrouped and controlled the next three frames with terminal swings in transition. Alayna Vines provided a strong attacking spark for the Threshers, and the back row absorbed sustained pressure throughout the final two sets.

Aug 30 • vs Morningside (RV)

Result: Loss 1–3 (21–25, 25–23, 20–25, 17–25)

In the tournament finale, Bethel split the first two sets with a late push to take the second, but Morningside—receiving votes nationally—closed the third and fourth behind a heavy, balanced attack. Offerle again led the Thresher offense, while the middle and right-side combinations chipped in timely points during extended rallies.
