Indoor Track & Field Opens Season at Coach Alsup Invite

Maryville, Mo - The Bethel College track & field team opened the indoor season with an encouraging showing at the Coach Alsup Invite.

Junior Marcus Fiedler led the way on the men's side, turning in a standout opening meet. Fiedler kicked things off with a seven-second personal best in the mile, crossing the line in 4:33.70, then came back later in the day to run another PR in the 3,000 meters (9:18.66).

The men's mile also featured strong efforts from the freshman class. Asa Johnson continued an impressive start to his collegiate career, running 4:35.78, while Braylon Hunnell added a personal best of 4:53.92.

On the women's side, Bethany Schrag paced Bethel in the mile with a time of 5:40.87. She later doubled back in the 3,000 meters, finishing in 11:20.03, a mark that currently ranks seventh in the KCAC. Star Espinoza also posted a personal best in the mile, running 6:31.97.

The middle-distance events produced strong debuts as well. Freshman Jason Klabo made an immediate impact in the 600 yards, winning his heat in 1:17.87, while junior Taryn Paulino opened her season with a solid 1:39.10 in the same event.

In the sprints, Xavier Craven turned in a strong collegiate debut in the 200 meters, clocking 23.98, and the field events closed the meet on a positive note as Darla Crow recorded a 4.70-meter long jump in her first collegiate competition.
