Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls in Overtime at McPherson

McPHERSON, Kan. — The Bethel College men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought overtime decision on Saturday night, falling 82–77 at McPherson. The loss moves the Threshers to 15–5 overall and 10–4 in KCAC play, placing them fourth in the conference standings.

Bethel played strong basketball for much of the night, building momentum through balanced scoring and consistent interior play. The Threshers led by as many as 10 points in the second half and were in control late, but execution became difficult down the stretch as turnovers mounted and allowed McPherson to climb back into the game.

Second-half ball security proved to be a turning point. Bethel committed several key turnovers over the final minutes of regulation and overtime, limiting offensive rhythm and giving McPherson additional scoring opportunities. The Bulldogs capitalized late and outscored Bethel 11–6 in the extra period to secure the win.

Cade Kittrell led all scorers with 22 points off the bench. Carmelo Yakubu added 14 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, while Dominick Harris chipped in 12 points, six assists, and three steals. Trenton Patterson contributed nine points and three assists, and Bethel finished with 38 bench points overall.

The difference ultimately came down to late-game execution and turnovers in the second half and overtime.

The Threshers will look to bounce back on Wednesday night as they return home to Thresher Gym to take on Southwestern. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM in a key KCAC matchup as Southwestern sits in 5th behind Bethel.
