NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — The Bethel College men's basketball team fell 77–62 to Southwestern on Wednesday night inside Thresher Gym. The result moves the Threshers to 15–6 overall and 10–5 in KCAC play,
Bethel kept the game within reach throughout the first half, trailing 36–31 at the break, but momentum proved difficult to regain after halftime. Southwestern capitalized on second-half opportunities, while Bethel struggled to find offensive rhythm as turnovers began to pile up. The Threshers committed several miscues in the final 20 minutes, limiting scoring chances and allowing Southwestern to extend its lead.
Trenton Patterson led Bethel with 14 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and going 6-of-7 at the free-throw line. Cade Kittrell added 14 points off the bench on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting night, while Carmelo Yakubu contributed 12 points and three rebounds. Bethel finished with 34 bench points, but was unable to overcome Southwestern's shooting efficiency and execution down the stretch.
Despite the loss, Bethel remains firmly in the upper half of the KCAC standings as the regular season continues.
