NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — The Bethel College women's basketball team continued its strong stretch of play on Saturday afternoon, earning a 77–58 win over Avila inside Thresher Gym. With the victory, the Threshers improve to 8–6 overall and 5–3 in KCAC play.
Bethel took control early and steadily built separation as the game progressed, using defensive pressure and transition scoring to create momentum. After leading 18–14 at the end of the first quarter, the Threshers broke the game open in the second half, outscoring Avila 45–27 over the final two quarters.
Kendall Locke delivered a standout performance, recording a double-double with 24 points and 11 assists, while also adding five steals. She accounted for all but 1 of Bethel's points in the 3rd quarter (assisted or scored). Karlee Locke followed with 15 points and six rebounds, and Caryn Yoder chipped in 13 points while finishing several key possessions inside. Madyson McKinzie added 12 points and nine rebounds, contributing on both ends of the floor.
Bethel finished with 37 points off turnovers and 19 fast-break points, capitalizing on its activity defensively. The Threshers also controlled the paint, scoring 50 points inside, and shot 42.5 percent from the field as a team.
With conference play continuing, Bethel now turns its attention to a midweek matchup. The Threshers will return to action next Wednesday, January 7, hosting Kansas Wesleyan at 6:00 PM inside Thresher Gym.
