Hillsboro, Kan. -Â The Bethel College men's basketball team earned a 106-82 road win over Tabor on Wednesday night and secured fourth place in the KCAC standings with one game remaining in the regular season.
With the victory, Bethel improves to 20-7 overall and 15-6 in conference play. The Threshers have locked up the No. 4 seed in the upcoming KCAC Tournament regardless of Saturday's outcome.
Bethel set the tone early and never trailed. The Threshers shot 55.3 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from three-point range, connecting on 12 threes. They scored 50 points in the paint and forced 19 turnovers, turning those into 24 points. Bethel led 50-36 at halftime and pushed the advantage to as many as 24 in the second half.
Trenton Patterson led all scorers with 27 points, shooting 10-for-16 from the field and 5-for-10 from three. Carmelo Yakubu added 24 points and five rebounds. Dominick Harris finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, and five steals.
Albert Diarra scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds, while the Thresher bench added 32 points.
Milestone for Artaz
The win also marked the sixth 20-win season in eight years under head coach Jayson Artaz. Since taking over the program, Artaz has built consistent success, with this year's group reaching the 20-win mark before the regular season finale.
KCAC Tournament Outlook
Bethel has fourth place secured heading into the final weekend. There is currently a three-way tie for fifth between Evangel, Southwestern, and Saint Mary.
Saint Mary and Southwestern play each other on Saturday. If Saint Mary wins, Bethel will host Evangel in the first round of the KCAC Tournament. If Southwestern wins, the Threshers will host Southwestern in the opening round.
