Personal Bests and School Records Lead the Way at Coach Wilson Invitational

Wichita, Kan. -- This past weekend the Bethel College indoor track & field competed at the Coach Wilson Invitational at Wichita State, personal bests from Emma Graber and Star Espinoza in the early distance events. Graber ran an impressive 11:50.58, while Espinoza followed with a new PR of 13:14, setting a positive tone for the meet.

Freshman Asa Johnson made an immediate impact in his collegiate indoor debut, winning his heat in the 3,000 meters with a confident run of 9:27.85. Bethany Schrag continued her outstanding season by breaking her own school record in the 5,000 meters. Schrag crossed the line in 18:58.44, lowering her previous mark by a significant margin. Marcus Fiedler added another record-breaking performance for the program, posting a school-record time of 16:13.71 in the 5,000 meters. He carried that momentum into day two with a solid mile run of 4:37.85. Day two also saw a great performance from Braylon Hunnell, who won his mile heat and set a new personal best with a time of 4:49.08. Schrag capped off her weekend with another PR in the mile, finishing in 5:33.25. To close out the meet, Jason Klabo recorded a personal best in the 600 meters at 1:26.37, a result that moved him up in the conference standings.
