KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Bethel College women's basketball team continued its climb up the KCAC standings Saturday afternoon, earning a 72–65 road win at Avila to extend its winning streak to eight games. The victory moves the Threshers to 17–7 overall and 14–4 in conference play, placing Bethel tied for second in the KCAC alongside Bethany and Friends.
Bethel took control in the third quarter, outscoring Avila 20–15 while shooting over 61 percent in the period to build separation. The Threshers maintained composure down the stretch, converting timely baskets and free throws to hold off Avila's late push.
Karlee Locke led the way with 19 points, knocking down four three-pointers and adding six steals on the defensive end. Caryn Yoder followed with 16 points, while Kendall Locke posted a strong all-around performance with 14 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Madyson McKinzie chipped in 12 points, and Bethel finished the game with 25 points off turnovers, a key factor in the road win.
Defensively, Bethel forced 20 Avila turnovers and held the Eagles to just 2-of-9 shooting from three-point range, helping the Threshers control the tempo for most of the afternoon.
With momentum firmly on their side, Bethel now turns its attention to a midweek road test. The Threshers will travel to Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday, with tipoff scheduled for 6:00 PM, as conference play continues to tighten near the top of the standings.
