SOUTH SIOUX CITY, IA. — The Bethel College women's tennis team faced a tough challenge Saturday afternoon, falling 4–0 to No. 11 Morningside at the First Serve Tennis Center.
Morningside secured the early momentum by sweeping the doubles point. The Mustangs earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, taking both matches by 6–1 and 6–2 scores to claim the opening point of the dual.
In singles play, Bethel battled throughout the lineup but Morningside closed out the match with three straight-set victories. The Mustangs picked up wins at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles to clinch the team result.
The Threshers saw competitive efforts higher in the lineup, including Daniela Casique at No. 1 singles and Ximena Raya at No. 3 singles, both of whom pushed their matches deep into the sets before their matches were cut off early due to the match being decided.
Bethel will look to bounce back this week with two road matches. The Threshers travel to Sterling on Tuesday before heading to Springfield, Missouri, on Saturday to face Evangel.
