NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — Bethel College Men's Tennis earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Concordia on Saturday afternoon, improving to 4-1 on the season.
It came down to the final court.
With the match tied 3-3 and every other contest complete, Adam Tomka stood alone at No. 6 singles knowing the team result rested on his shoulders. After dropping the opening set, Tomka responded with a strong finish, claiming a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 comeback win to secure the fourth and decisive point for the Threshers.
Bethel picked up singles wins from Jorge Batista at No. 1 (6-1, 6-3), and Rodrigo Sanchez at No. 4 (6-7, 6-3,6-2) along with the doubles point with all three doubles teams getting the win. Now sitting at 4-1, Bethel turns its focus to KCAC play. The Threshers open conference action at home this Saturday at 3:00 PM against Avila.
