NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — Bethel played Tabor to a 2-2 tie on Wednesday to continue KCAC play. The Threshers withstood nine Tabor attacking actions from 77:48 to 89:27 of the second half without conceding, keeping the match level through the closing stretch.
Bethel used a second-half attacking stretch to get back into the match after playing from a 1-0 deficit. Early in the half, Bethel created seven attacking actions, including four shots and three corner kicks, before
Ricardo Navarro scored a shorthanded goal off an assist from
Branden Balvanz to equalize. Down a man, the Threshers then moved in front when Kouki Ikashima finished a chance set up by
Erwin Navarro.
The match was level again entering the closing stretch, and Bethel had to defend through Tabor's late push. Tabor generated nine attacking actions over the final minutes, including seven shots and two corner kicks, but the Threshers did not concede during that span as
Diego Medina recorded several clutch saves over the stretch. For the match, Tabor held a slight 15-14 edge in shots and put 10 attempts on goal to Bethel's seven. Medina finished with eight saves for Bethel, while
Ricardo Navarro and Ikashima each scored on their lone shots on goal. Balvanz added an assist and put his only shot on goal.
