WICHITA, Kan. - The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference hosted its 2022 Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Heskett Center on the campus of Wichita State University.
Trey Palmer came away with a first place finish in the men's 60 meter dash, Bethel's lone first place finisher in the meet. The Threshers were able to set two school records in the KCAC Indoor Championships.
Despite the Threshers not winning any more events, they came away with a large quantity of top 10 finishes. Bethel recorded a top 10 finish in 17 different events between the men's and women's competitions.
Trey Palmer ran an NAIA "A" standard in the men's 60 meter final in which he took first by .06 seconds with a time of 6.88.
Garret Slater was the lone Thresher to participate in the 400 meter where he finished 17th with a time of 54.43.
Luke Schmidt and
Tobin Wise ran in the 800 meters. Schmidt finished with a time of 7:06.89 putting him in 7th, while Wise ran a time of 2:09.04 to finish 17th.
Isaiah Bartel had a strong showing in the 1000 meter as he finished 4th after turning in a time of 2:37.22.
In the 1 mile,
Mauro Arancibia Campos and Schmidt finished back to back in 12th and 13th places. Campos ran a time of 4:35.41, while Schmidt finished with a time of 4:43.56.
Arran Kearney,
Mauro Arancibia Campos,
Andrew Graber and
Carter Funk were both participants in the 3000 meter race. Kearney and Campos turned in top 10 times with Kearney finishing 6th setting a new school record with a time of 8:54.8, while Campos finished 8th with a time of 8:57.38. Graber ran a time of 9:49.20 to finish 23rd, while Funk turned in a time of 11:23.19 putting him in 34th.
Robbie Crager was the lone Bethel Thresher in the 5000 meter where he finished 20th with a time of 19:06.27.
The Threshers saw success in their relays as a whole. The men's 4x400 team of
Isaac Tarango,
Sebastian Formento,
Corbin Unruh and Palmer also finished 8th with a time of 3:37.26. The men's 4x800 team finished in 5th setting a school record with a time of 8:00.02. The 4x800 team consisted of Schmidt, Bartel, Kearney and Campos. The men's distance medley relay team of Kearney, Tarango, Wise and Graber finished in 3rd place with a time of 10:58.01.
