NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - Following a loss in their first home conference game of the season in game one, the Bethel College Softball team earned the split with Tabor with a 4-2 victory in game two.
GAME 1, L 7-6
The Bluejays got the scoring early in the contest pushing two runs across in the top of the first inning. After another Tabor run in the top of the second, Bethel put up a crooked number in the bottom half as they took a 4-3 lead. The Threshers got a pair of RBI from
Cynae Wiley in the inning while
Taylor Sanfillippo and
Amber Mott each drove in a run as well. Tabor took the lead back in the fourth inning as they were able to push two runs across putting them ahead 5-4.
Dakota Piovesan put the Threshers back on top with a two-run shot that cleared the scoreboard in left field. With Bethel up a run and needing just three outs to close out the game, the Bluejays started a two out rally sparked by a walk. Tabor was able to push across two runs in the top half of the final frame to take the lead back. The Bluejay defense held strong in the bottom half as their shortstop turned in a web gem play laying out to snag a line drive.

GAME 2, W 4-2
Game two saw Bethel strike first after sitting the Bluejays down in order in the top half of the inning. A two-out single from
Marissa Harrison drove in Sanfillippo who singled earlier in the inning. A one-out walk from
Ella Caudill got a rally started for BC in the bottom half of the second as they went on to score two runs. Bethel got an RBI double from
Brianna Reeves and Sanfillippo drove in a run when she reached on an error by the shortstop. Neither team scored again until the top of the 5th when the Bluejays were able to figure out
Rachel Duer. The Bethel starter went four innings scoreless giving up just 3 hits while striking out 6 batters. Tabor was able to cut Bethel's lead down to just one run before the Threshers made a pitching change and escaped without further damage. Sanfillppo continued to make her mark on the contest as she provided Bethel with an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with a single to left center. After the Bluejays first two batters of the 7th inning reach safely,
Jesse McMichael reached deep and sat down the next three recording a strikeout, flyout and groundout back to herself.
