NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Softball team earned a split with Kansas Christian picking up a 3-1 victory in game two after losing 12-11 in eight innings in game one.
GAME 1, L 12-11 (8 inn.)
The Threshers opened up a 3-0 lead after the first two frames. Kansas Christian cut into the Bethel lead in the top of the third when they pushed across two runs. Bethel answered the two runs with two of their own in the bottom half. They extended their lead to seven in the bottom of the fourth with a four run inning taking a 9-2 lead. The Falcons responded with five runs in the fifth to cut Bethel's lead down to just two 9-7. The Threshers got a run back in the bottom half of the frame. Kansas Christian scored three more in the top of the sixth to tie the contest at 10 all. Bethel pushed one across in the bottom half to take the lead back. The Falcons got a run in the seventh to extend the contest. Kansas Christian drove in the international tie breaker runner that got put on second base and the Threshers were unsuccessful.Â

In game two, Bethel once again struck first in the bottom of the first inning as they pushed across two runs. The Threshers were able to add to their lead in the bottom of the third as they pushed their lead to 3-0. The Falcons got one run back in the top of the fifth. That was as close as Bethel let it get as they held Kansas Christian to just five hits.

The Threshers will be back in action on Fridayl March 10th as they take on Midlane at 11:00 AM and Morningside at 4:00 PM as a part of the McPherson Classic.
