LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - The Bethel College softball team closed out their 2023 campaign with a doubleheader against the Spires of the University of Saint Mary. The Threshers dropped game one from the Spires 8-2, before USM claimed game two 6-3.
GAME 1, L 8-2
Bethel struck for two runs in the top of the first inning as
Dakota Piovesan drove in her 21st run of the season with a double.
Catherine Carter singled to bring in Piovesan later in the inning. Saint Mary answered back right away as they put up four runs in the bottom half. The Spires would go on to score another run in the second and three more in the sixth to take the contest 8-2.

GAME 2, L 6-3
The Threshers once again struck first as Broxterman recorded an RBI double scoring
Ella Caudill. Just like game one, the Spires answered back by doubling the Threshers first inning run total as they pushed across two to take the lead. Saint Mary proceeded to add two more in the second and two more in the third to take an early 6-1 lead. Bethel tried to rally in the late innings, but it was too little too late as they were only able to push across two runs in the final frame.
Brianna Reeves had an RBI ground out and Caudill reached on a fielders choice that also scored a run.
