Daniela Herrera and Daniela Casique Compete at NAIA National Individual Championships

Rome, Ga. - November 1-2

Bethel College's Daniela Herrera and Daniela Casique showcased their skills at the prestigious NAIA National Individual Championships in Rome, Georgia, on November 1st and 2nd.

Casique opened her tournament against Cumberlands (KY) with an impressive display. She dominated the first set, sweeping it 6-0. The second set saw a closer contest as Casique's opponent mounted a challenge, but Casique maintained her composure, particularly during a crucial deuce point at 4-4. With determination, she clinched the game and went on to win the set 6-4, securing her place in the Round of 16.

In the second round, Casique faced her toughest opponent yet: the No. 4 ranked player in the country from Georgia Gwinnett College. Casique held her own in the first set, reaching 4-4 in a thrilling battle.. However, her opponent managed to edge past, taking the set 6-4. The second set saw a shift in momentum as Casique, despite fighting through close games, ultimately fell 0-6.

Herrera's first-round match began with strong momentum against UT Southern. She raced to a 4-1 lead before a sudden rain delay halted play for nearly four hours. Despite the break, Herrera returned to the court undeterred, closing out the set 6-2. However, her opponent fought back in the second set, and after a close contest, Herrera lost 3-6. Unfazed, Herrera took control in the final set, winning 6-3 to advance to the next round.

In the Round of 16, Herrera faced an immense challenge against the No. 2 player from Savannah College of Art and Design - Atlanta. Despite her best efforts, Herrera was unable to break through, ultimately falling 0-6, 1-6 to a formidable opponent.

Both Daniela Casique and Daniela Herrera proved themselves among the nation's best.
